Goals & Aims

Rescue and rehabilitate orphaned chimpanzees

Care for chimpanzees orphaned due to of the ongoing bush meat trade

Try repair their physical and psychological wounds

Provide a loving, nurturing, and secure environment

Encourage and try replicate natural behaviour
- We hope one day to be able to release them back to the wild
The Chimpanzees
-
We care for 15 orphaned chimps
-
9 young chimps live semi wild on an island in the middle of the Sanaga River near the village of Pongo Songo
-
Their ages range from approx 5 to 8years old
-
3 Females and 6 males
-
Weights are from 17kg to 29kgs
-
They forage for wild food found on the Island themselves
-
They make nests to sleep at night
-
They have formed a very tight family group similar to that of a wild group
- We supply additional foods, once or twice a day (this allows us to monitor behaviour and medical status
