  • Care for chimpanzees orphaned due to of the ongoing bush meat trade

  • Try repair their physical and psychological wounds

  • Provide a loving, nurturing, and secure environment

  • Encourage and try replicate natural behaviour

  • We hope one day to be able to release them back to the wild

The Chimpanzees

  • We care for 15 orphaned chimps

  • 9 young chimps live semi wild on an island in the middle of the Sanaga River near the village of Pongo Songo

  • Their ages range from approx 5 to 8years old

  • 3 Females and 6 males

  • Weights are from 17kg to 29kgs

  • They forage for wild food found on the Island themselves

  • They make nests to sleep at night

  • They have formed a very tight family group similar to that of a wild group

  • We supply additional foods, once or twice a day (this allows us to monitor behaviour and medical status
